Adam & Claire’s Wedding Day from Bob Skalycz on Vimeo.
Photographing this wedding at the Raddison Blu in Liverpool is rather special for us. We have known Adam for many years, as we had photographed his sisters wedding years earlier.
Our photography is creative in style, but documentary in our approach – just what Adam and Claire wanted. We observe and photograph what is going on and alway maintain a discrete presence.
We cover the usual family photos, signing the register, cutting the wedding cake and first dance, but go a little deeper and capture emotions, relationships and moments. These moments are the essence of every wedding and what makes every wedding unique.
Adam and Claire chose to have a civil service – so the service, reception and evening celebrations were at the Radisson Blu. Civil services are a good option for those couples who do not want the stress of traveling from location to another and the Liverpool Radisson Blu is ideal for this.

Photography at the West Tower in Aughton
Wedding Photography at West Tower is great, but we are biased as the venue is local to us. I don’t think many people would disagree that West Tower Manor House is simply stunning. Any day of the week at any time of year. If you’re looking for a photographer who knows the area and how to get the best out of what this venue has to offer, we do! Our photography is creative in style, but documentary in our approach.
We cover the usual family photos, signing the register, cutting the wedding cake and first dance, but go a little deeper and capture emotions, relationships and moments. These moments are the essence of every wedding and what make every wedding unique. Sally and Jack, they had their ceremony at St Luke Church, Lowton. From there, it was a short drive in the wedding car to the venue in Aughton.
West Tower Wedding Photographer
We have been to West Tower, Aughton as wedding photographers many times in the past few years. Some weddings having a church service and some with services in the ballroom of the venue. We have even photographed weddings in the garden of West Tower. Each time we have managed to create something different for our couple.
The possibilities for photography at any point of the compass are endless and change with the seasons and the weather. The view west over the fields can be a great backdrop on a clear day, with views of the sunset. Looking back east towards the building and grounds, there’s plenty of space for throwing confetti and the trees provide shade which is great for photos on really sunny days.
There are great locations at West Tower to get those group photos of family, bridesmaids and ushers both indoors and out. The steps to the building provide a ready made setting for a full group photo and there’s enough paving for those who aren’t keen on standing on the grass.
West Tower can accommodate over 150 people, the magnificent ballroom with steps leading in, is a superb photo opportunity as the couple enter for their first dance! The evening is a really exciting time, where great photos are taken. Both Sally and Jack and all their guest were up dancing to the music and having a fantastic time.
What a wonderful and special wedding to be part of, and a total joy to capture all the memories for the newlywed couple. We can’t wait to return again soon for another wedding to photograph. Big thank you to Steph, Sue and all the team at West Tower Manor House.

The wedding ceremony was to be held in Hard Days Night Hotel, Liverpool. It is the world’s only Beatles inspired hotel, combining the highest quality facilities in a truly unique environment. Located at the heart of Liverpool’s ‘Beatles Quarter’, it is housed in the magnificent Grade II listed Central Buildings, dating back to 1884, a beautifully restored building is steeped in history.
From first meeting Tracy and Richard you could see they already knew exactly how their Wedding day was going to be. Very relaxed and overflowing with fun, perfect in every way. This was going to be a magical wedding, with the hotels themed layout giving the day a fantastic twist.
We met them very early in the planning stages of their Wedding they pretty much booked us to photograph their day, right away. We also got to meet all the family way before the wedding day too. Shortly after booking their wedding Tracey asked us to photograph the family at one of their favourite locations. The photos can be seen here.
After that Sunday afternoon, we kind of knew what the atmosphere on the wedding day would be like – ELECTRIC. Tracey and the bridesmaids went out to have her make makeup done, then return to the Hard Days Night Hotel, to complete their preparations and have photos taken. Mean while, Richard and the groomsmen had photos around Mathew Street, home of the ‘Beatles Quarter’ in Liverpool, before returning to the ceremony suite in the Hotel.
After the ceremony Tracey and Richard, went out in a VW Camper Van to have some special photographs take in and around Liverpool. The city centre provides a great back drop to some fantastic reportage and documentary photography. The night time celebrations were held in the Hard Days Night function suite. Moments last a lifetime when they are captured and we are passionate about capturing that very moment in time, spontaneously, and all of the atmosphere.
If you would like to find out more about how we can capture all those moments on your day, please give us a call on 07910621134 and we can start talking about your Wedding Day.
The Wedding Photography
Gemma always wanted to have her wedding at 30 James Street Hotel, Liverpool, home of the RHS Titanic – White Star Line. A dream come true.
Lewis got ready in one of the hotels grand bedrooms, and being a ‘Army man’, it was only fitting that he was in formal army dress uniform. Their wedding ceremony was to be at St. Peter’s Church, Woolton, Liverpool. Lewis arrive in style, being chauffeured to church with his best man in attendance. The church is famous for the Beatles song “Eleanor Rigby”, and where John Lennon met Paul McCartney.
The weather could not put a damper on the excitement of the day, bridesmaids and mother were escorted in to church by the groomsmen. After the ceremony and confetti, it was only a short drive to Liverpool centre, and 30 James Street Hotel.
30 James Str, Photographs
We have photographed weddings at this historic home of the RMS Titanic venue many times. The magnificent entrance and lobby to the White Star Grand Hall is fantastic opportunity for the photographer. It provides a romantic backdrop to a very special day.
Whilst the couple have a few moments alone to relax, the guests were in the ‘Carpathia Restaurant’ on the top floor. This location gives us great opportunities to photograph everyone in a relaxed and friendly location – it helps that the rooftop bar has great views over Liverpool.
With two photographers in attendance, we are able to photograph the couple and family whilst the other can photograph the guest enjoying the celebration without any intrusion. The breakfast reception is held in the White Star Grand Hall, and it was magnificently decorated by Gemma. After the breakfast reception, the speeches took place.
Speeches and in particular the best-mans speech, gives the photographer fantastic opportunity to take reaction shots to the guests and couple reacting and laughing.
First Dance and Evening Celebrations
After the wedding breakfast, we took the opportunity to sneak a few pictures of the couple alone. The night view from the roof top of 30 James Street, over Liverpool is great a help to photograph special moments with the couple.
And now on to the first dance and the entertainment. Gemma wanted great entertainment, and this was provided in the form of the Jersey Boys tribute act. The evening was exciting and great photographs were taken.
For us the evenings photography was rounded off with sparklers outside the main entrance with the couple and bridal party. It was a joy to capture the many memories of a great day, below is a small selection of the photos of a special day.
Photographing the Wedding.
What a great day to photograph the wedding of Andrew and Hayley at the exclusive romantic hide-away, West Tower, Aughton. The light was just right for a winter wedding. The Bride – Hayley – and her bridesmaids were excited and having there bridal preparation photos taken; whilst the groom – Andrew – and his grooms men were dressed and ready to begin the wedding day.
The couple had the ceremony at St. Peter and Paul’s Church, in Crosby, Liverpool which is only a short drive to West Tower.

Wedding at West Tower – Andy and Gemma live in Childwall, Liverpool, but fell in love with West Tower and chose to celebrate there wedding there. We met Gemma shortly afterwards and she loved the albums we had of the many weddings we had photographed at West Tower and booked us, straight away, to capture their day. Lots of fun on the morning at Gemma’s mum’s home with Polly and Sam make up. Little Isla has grown so much recently and happily joined in on the bride preps too. The moment Gemma walked down the stairs to see her dad for the first time in her wedding dress was emotional, for everyone, especially Tina her mum. As we left, the boys and all guests were arriving at All Saints Church, Childwall, Liverpool. At the speeches, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, Gemma’s dad was certainly very emotional and the best men definately entertained the guests. A very warm and welcoming wedding with lots of gorgeous guests as the sun shone brightly all day. Gorgeous sunset whilst Andy and Gemma showed their true love for each other, walking off on their new journey together. Here is just a small collection of our favourites, we love telling the whole story of a Wedding – if you would like to find out how we can capture your wedding day – please give us a call on 07910621134
