On Friday, St Richard’s Church celebrated its 150th Anniversary. St Richard’s was built only 14 years after the Re-establishment of the Hierarchy of England and Wales in 1851. Father Michael Thompson, the Parish Priest and his team have worked hard over the last 18 months in preparation for this celebration and it was clear to see just how much time and effort they had put in to making sure the Community were involved. The Archbishop, the Most Reverend Malcolm McMahon OP was the Principle Celebrant and all the priest’s who have served in the parish were invited to the celebration too. There were lots of VIP guests also invited, including The Mayor of West Lancashire,Cllr Nikki Hennessy, and Rosie Cooper, Labour MP for West Lancashire and of course the Community of St. Richards were invited too.for. During the service, the two new stained glass windows were unveiled and blessed, and the time capsule was also blessed. At the end of the service, It was lovely to see the pride on Father Michael’s face as he thanked everybody for making this celebration so memorable.
